SMILES

Junior League of Lafayette SMILES logoJunior League of Lafayette partners with Miles Perret Cancer Services for SMILES program. The purpose of the SMILES Committee is to provide an escape and supportive environment through age appropriate activities for children ages 5-18 who are fighting cancer or have a parent/sibling with cancer.

SMILES begins their year hosting the Back-to-School project where they gather school supplies for over 100 student participants. Throughout the year, SMILES participants and committee members spend Saturdays once a month hosting various events including: painting at Painting With a Twist and Clayfish Bisque, viewing a movie at the Grand Theatre, taking in the Christmas lights at Acadian Village, creating stuffed animals at Build-a-Bear Workshop, playing at Kart Ranch, bowling at Acadiana Lanes, and visiting the Zoo of Acadiana.

Junior League of Lafayette committee members enjoy seeing the warm “smiles” on the faces of the participants and their families from the memories made at each and every activity.
