What is Touch-a-Truck? 

Touch-a-Truck offers a unique and interactive experience for individuals, especially children, providing them with the opportunity to explore and engage with a diverse range of vehicles, including fire trucks, ambulances, and construction equipment. This hands-on event fosters a fun and educational environment for participants to learn about different vehicles and their functions. 

When and where is Touch-a-Truck taking place? 

The event is scheduled to occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 23, 2024, at Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette, Louisiana, offering attendees a unique opportunity to interact with a diverse array of vehicles. Additionally, a quiet hour is scheduled from 2-3 p.m., providing a reduced sensory experience for attendees who may benefit from a quieter and more relaxed environment during that period. 

Is there an entry fee or do I need to purchase tickets for Touch-a-Truck? 

Yes, there is an entry fee of $10 per person. Children 2 years old and under are admitted free.  

Where can I buy tickets for Touch-a-Truck? 

Tickets may be purchased at Junior League of Lafayette Headquarters during business hours, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday – Friday until the day before the event or from any Junior League of Lafayette Member for $10. 

 Tickets can also be purchased online here. Please note, digital tickets will incur an additional fee of $2.51 per ticket. 

 Tickets will be available through Eventbrite only at the door. 

 What types of vehicles will be available at Touch-a-Truck? 

The event will feature a diverse range of vehicles including fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, construction machinery, and much more, offering a broad spectrum of interactive experiences. 

Can children and adults touch and explore the vehicles? 

Absolutely! Both children and adults are encouraged to touch, explore, and learn about the vehicles on display at the event. 

Will there be any safety guidelines or rules while interacting with the trucks? 

Yes, safety guidelines will be in place to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for everyone. These guidelines will be clearly communicated at each exhibitors’ area. 

Are there specific time slots for certain vehicles or is it an open exploration throughout the event? 

It’s an open exploration format throughout the event, allowing attendees to freely explore the vehicles at their own pace. 

Is the event suitable for children of all ages? 

Yes, the event is designed to cater to children of all ages, providing an exciting and educational experience for everyone. 

Are there any food or refreshment options available at the event? 

During Touch-a-Truck, attendees will have the option to purchase food and refreshments from local food trucks conveniently located on site. It’s important to note that outside food and drinks are not permitted, and alcohol is strictly prohibited during the event. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. 

Will there be any entertainment or additional activities apart from exploring the vehicles? 

Yes, there will be additional activities and entertainment planned alongside vehicle exploration to enhance the overall experience for attendees. 

Is there parking available nearby? Is it free or paid parking? 

Parking will be free and available with designated areas for sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, and attendees. On the day of the event, designated volunteers will be available to guide and assist attendees in finding appropriate parking areas. 

 Can I take photos during Touch-a-Truck? 

Absolutely! Photography is allowed and encouraged to capture memorable moments during the event. 

Are the vehicles operated by professionals who can provide information and demonstrations? 

Yes, the vehicles will be operated by professionals who can offer information, demonstrations, and answer questions about their respective vehicles. 

Is there any accessibility information available for visitors with disabilities? 

Yes, there will be accessibility information provided to assist visitors with disabilities for a comfortable experience at the event. 

What happens if it rains or there’s inclement weather on the day of the event? 

Touch-a-Truck is scheduled to proceed regardless of weather conditions, with contingency plans in place to ensure a smooth experience in case of inclement weather. Prompt updates will be communicated to attendees in such cases; however, it’s important to note that refunds will not be provided in the event of a cancellation due to adverse weather conditions. 

Are pets allowed at Touch-a-Truck? 

While we love pets, for the safety and comfort of all attendees, pets are not permitted at the event, except for service animals. 

How long does Touch-a-Truck typically last? 

The event will start at 9 a.m. and will last until 3 p.m. Quiet hour will be from 2-3 p.m. providing ample time for attendees to explore and enjoy the various activities. 

Are there any restrictions on what children can wear or bring to the event? 

There are no specific dress codes or restrictions for children attending the event. However, we recommend comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities and closed toe shoes. 

Is there a lost and found or a designated area for lost children/items during the event? 

Yes, there will be a designated area for lost and found items or assistance with any lost children during the event. 

 Are there any restrictions on the number of people attending together as a group? 

No, there are no restrictions on the number of people attending together as a group. All are welcome to come and enjoy the event together.
