LAFAYETTE, LA - October 13, 2007, the Junior League of Lafayette, in conjunction with the Miles Perret Center, held an event at the Zoo of Acadiana for children whose siblings or parents have cancer. This event was held during the Zoo of Acadiana's Boo at the Zoo, a family fun day at the zoo, which included live music, costume contests, games and food. SMILES is a community program offered by the Junior League, in conjunction with the Miles Perret Center, that establishes and implements activities for children whose parents or siblings have cancer.

The Junior League of Lafayette is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
